Define “translation” first
Does the system detect a meow, classify one of three recording contexts, identify an individual, or infer a likely interaction goal? These are different tasks. Calling all of them translation hides the real performance question.
Test outside the training room
Credible evaluation uses held-out cats, recording devices and environments, reports errors by class, and checks whether background cues drive results. It should compare performance with meaningful baselines and show when predictions fail.
Realistic can still be useful
CatMind AI aims for structured interpretation of observable evidence in one video: what was seen and heard, what may explain it and how strong the support is. It is real analysis with explicit limits, not verified cat-to-English speech.
