Three different outputs, three different claims

  • Detection asks whether a vocal event occurred. It does not establish why the cat made it.
  • Context classification compares a recording with labelled examples. A matching label is not a sentence spoken by the cat.
  • Behaviour interpretation combines observations into possible explanations. It should retain alternatives and explain missing evidence.

Cats do not provide parallel text

Human translation systems learn from aligned examples: the same meaning expressed in two languages. No equivalent corpus pairs cat vocalisations with verified feline sentences. A meow also need not function like a word; it can attract attention, express arousal or participate in a learned routine.

What evidence does support

People can classify meows from several contexts above chance, but accuracy in a controlled study was modest and improved when listeners heard bouts rather than isolated calls. Acoustic research also finds that context can influence duration, pitch and intonation. That supports probabilistic context recognition, not a secret dictionary.

CatMind AI takes the subtitle marks off

CatMind AI combines the sound with visible posture, movement, the scene and what the cat does next. It reports observations and plausible interpretations with uncertainty. The goal is a better question about a real moment, not a theatrical sentence placed in the cat’s mouth.

A saved example you can inspect

In Simba's 30.43-second garden video, the saved analysis covers 48 sampled frames and detects two brief cat-like vocal events. Attention-seeking is a possible explanation, not a verified translation.

The interpretation score of 0.56 is relative heuristic support. It does not mean a 56% probability that Simba wants attention, and it is not a measure of the product's accuracy.

One demonstration does not establish accuracy across cats, homes or recording conditions. It shows how a result is presented and what remains uncertain.
