Detection has a narrow job

A system might detect locomotion, grooming-like motion, a cat-shaped region or an audio event. Each label depends on the task it was trained for. “Detected” does not mean the system discovered a motive, emotion or medical condition.

Even simple actions overlap visually. Scratching, grooming and rapid head movement can look similar when the body is partly hidden or the clip is compressed.

A worked example: observation before explanation

Illustrative scenario, not a measured CatMind AI result: a cat pauses beside a closed door, makes one sound and looks back toward a person.

Record the pause, sound and turn as separate observations. Wanting access and seeking attention are possible explanations; the detected sound alone cannot choose between them.

Next, note what happened before the recording and what the cat does after your ordinary response. If that part was not recorded, keep it marked as unknown.

False positives and missed events are normal risks

Good evaluation tests unfamiliar cats, homes and camera angles, not only frames resembling the training set. Useful products also expose uncertainty and let weak evidence remain weak. The honest answer may be “a brief movement occurred, but the action is unclear.”

Turn detections into a timeline

CatMind AI organises detected cues by time, adds scene and profile context, and then considers multiple explanations. This makes a detector a component of analysis rather than a one-button oracle. For recurring or concerning behaviour, your own notes and professional advice remain part of the evidence.
